Summer Rescue

Another drama, and the only one, I finished these few weeks is Summer Rescue. It may not sound too interesting, the title doesn't really express much and it kind of sends you to think about some old and boring show but it's definitely not. I do recognize I started to watch it because of Osamu Mukai who plays the principle character. We all know he uses to play in dramas or movies that have some kind of relation with humanism and things along that but this drama opens the eyes towards medicine and how important is a doctor.

Firstly, Hayami Keigo (Osamu Mukai) is a promising young heart surgeon at a university hospital, but is made to examine patients at a clinic in the mountains during summer on the orders of his superior. There are some other details regarding that but you get to understand it later in the drama. At a harsh environment 2,000 meters above sea level, there is a very small quantity of testing equipment and medicine. It is a culture shock and setback for Keigo who is active in advanced medical care and the use of cutting-edge equipment. This is a place detached from modern medical care where doctors make all diagnoses by touching, looking at and talking to patients. But they also give a lot of comfort and they do have some medical assistance. They aren't completely unprepared for easy surgeries; there are a lot of these throughout the drama. Oyama Haruka (Ono Machiko), who's character I find likeable but very slow in some moments, was raised by parents who ran a mountain lodge, but when she was 5, her mother died in an accident on the mountains. That influenced her to become a nurse in Tokyo. However, one day, an incident prompts her to escape from Tokyo and return to the mountain lodge. It is the same time that Keigo arrives at the clinic. These two don't get well with each other from the start. Haruka's personality is really headstrong. 

Anyway, the characters in this drama are all very lively and I think every episode had some good quotes for both life itself and medicine. I was surprised by how deeply the whole drama touched me. Each episode carries heavy feelings and make you think about the situation the characters get into. 

One thing I don't understand is: why in every drama he is in, he has to be engaged or have a relationship with girls that are simply unimportant and desperate and so many more adjectives! Like seriously! And in movies most of the times he doesn't end up with the right girl! It pisses me off, really. But Osamu Mukai is a brilliant actor, my second favourite actually, and he acts so veridical and it's obvious he does make his homework. I also liked Haruka. Ono Machiko did a great job on this character. I could see the pain in her face expressions, when she smiled you could feel the happiness she felt etcetera. I'm pretty content with this drama.

So, I assure you this drama is worthwhile. It's so touching and intelligent created. Also, the music may sound too fantasy-like and a little overrated but it does have its role and after a few episodes you fast forward over it anyway. :)

Mei-chan no Shitsuji

I recently finished Mei-chan no Shitsuji. Kind of late, I know. It's a good drama but some parts get annoying. For example, the lack of self-confidence Mei has it's immense. I can't believe she's also very naive and kind. The plot is somewhat good because of the actors and some other characters but I really got annoyed often with some character's personalities.

For the people who don't know what I'm talking about, the story revolves around a young woman named Mei (Eikura Nana) , who was rescued as a young girl by someone calling himself her "butler." With only a vague memory, though, the experience seems like just a dream. But one day, after her parents' accidental death, he appears: Rihito (Mizushima Hiro) comes from a line of outstanding butlers, and he has been appointed to serve her! Now her ordinary life has completely flipped, as she discovers that she's actually the heiress to a fortune, and is forced to transfer to St. Lucia Girls' Academy, where all the students have butlers! As a result, her childhood friend Kento (Sato Takeru) decides to enrol in a butler school so that he can stay close to her. Yep, I did take it from Drama Wiki because I was too lazy to write it on my own. But Mizushima Hiro looks so handsome as a butler. I was completely surprised because I saw him before in Hana Kimi where his personality was definitely the opposite. Also, having such handsome butlers must be heaven! I also watched this drama for Oomasa Aya, which is an actress I really admire. I've seen her in a lot of roles that really suited her. Seeing Osamu Mukai, who's one of my favourites Japanese actors. I seriously didn't know he was the so called bad character, Shinobu. That guy has a seriously scary smile when he wants to. It freaked me out all the time, and the close-ups, even though I was drooling over his nice features, he still looked weird.

So, in the end, the story seems uninteresting but the whole concept of friendship and love which comes throughout the drama makes it better. It's good, I can assure you that it's not a waste of time.

Faith-The High Doctor

Well, well...I cried rivers when this exceptional drama finished. It left the viewers into such a tension because it was really hard to imagine how it would end. Now, Lee Minho has such a huge talent to make whatever role he plays into a magnificent character. Choi Young was so complicated to begin with! There was loyalty but also some rage and resentment. That character toyed with our hearts, seriously. It was so hard to say what he was going to do, who he was going to protect until the end...and I'm really happy with the ending.

Faith is about the romance between a warrior from the ancient times and a female doctor from the modern times, their love transcending time and space. It also tells the story about the process of making a true king. The hardships he has to go through, the internal and external fights, the way he changes and also changes the country. 

Yoo Eun Soo (Kim Hee Sun) is a 33-year old plastic surgeon in the year 2012. She was originally a general surgeon, but quickly found that it was an overworked, under-paid profession and jumped ship to plastic surgery. Her dream is to someday open her own practice. But one day, Choi Young (Lee Min Ho) kidnaps her and takes her back to the Goryeo era because he needs her medical skills. Their love story spans centuries but also warring beliefs. He gave up on love to be an unflinching warrior. Yet, that wonderful woman from the future (or Heaven, since they all call it like that) makes a whole lot of changes. She grows up, she finds out what life is, what love is and also learns Choi Young how to do all that, too. It's such a beautiful masterpiece. I love the chemistry between Hee Sun and Minho. They seem to click really well and she's beautiful. They express exactly what they have to, the personalities of the characters are greatly constructed. It's really a masterpiece and there's no one who can negate it.

The evil characters are indeed evil. I can't express how much I could hate that Ki Cheol prince of Whatever. He was cruel and didn't care about anything but hismelf, not even his pledged siblings! He just left them all die and for what? He died anyway. Actually, his death reminds me of "The Shining'. Remember, the evil character died the same way. Also, the Woodalchi were refreshing characters. I mean, they were there to entertain somehow and change the atmosphere a little. It was amusing how Deok Man would always laugh and make fun of his general when he would disappear with Eun Soo. Also, I liked the idea of Suribang...it had been created with a lot of inspiration.

Sprout

One of the dramas I finished this week is Sprout. I didn't really know what o expect from it, actually, because I seriously didn't see any link to what the subject may be. Anyway, I was surprised to find myself in the posture of the principle characters. The four principle actors are good but sometimes they wouldn't really express the real thing. They are still very young and it can be seen. They have more to learn and they have to experience, to grow so that they can find little bits of themselves into their characters.

For people who don't know what this drama is about, well I'm sure everyone knows what happens when two people fall in love but they don't realize and don't recognize their feelings. They end up paired up with other people and so, it's not just them who suffer but, also, the ones involved indirectly. That's what Sprout is about. The love story evolves when two high school students, named Shouhei and Miku, start living under the same roof after Miku's parents turn their home into a boarding house. The heroine is played by Morikawa Aoi (16) who I find alright actually. She did some nice acting there but I do strongly believe she overplayed some emotions which just meant she never went through that situation. Shouhei, who's a very indecisive young man, is played by Chinen Yuri (19). The actor is good but I didn't like his character that much. He expressed the feeling somewhat veridical but he's just so slow...Other actors are Kojima Fujiko (18) who was a very good Miyuki but the character itself was annoying to some point and Lewis Jesse (16) as Katagiri Hayato. I love the name 'Hayato' but this guy was too...nice. The character should have had more personality. It really looked like he lacked something. Also, the actor is very young and it was so obvious when he had close-ups. Also, his facial expression didn't really convince me of his talent at all. He still has a long, long way to go.

However, I kind of liked the drama. There are a lot of creepy things, though. For example, Miku falls in love with a person who feel right, who gives her the feeling of fate even though she hadn't even seen his face clearly. And when she gets disappointed that he has a girlfriend and he's actually happy, she starts to cry. It's a little bit exaggerated. Seriously...she just met him, for God's sake. Of course he won't fall in love with her from the start. However, I like how the tables turn at some point and Shouhei gets jealous. It really hits you deeply how anyone can transform into Miku or into Shouhei and how this problem doesn't always have a happy ending.

  

To The Beautiful You

I haven't written something about a drama in a while and it was time.. To The Beautiful You just finished this week and it had just 16 episodes. I believe it was a little bit rushed though. Anyway, we all know the extraordinary awesome manga/drama Hana Kimi. There is a Taiwanese version, Japanese version (of course) and now a Korean version. I respect all of them but the first one I have seen was Hana Kimi form 2007 with Maki Horikita as Mizuki, Toma Ikuta as Nakatsu and the awesome Oguri Shun as Izumi Sano. That was the best version. It had incredible plot and incredible actors. For me, that was the absolute version. Now, the Korean one was pretty good actually. Even though I'm not a fan of f(x), Sulli did a good job as Goo Jae Hee.

Now, if someone doesn't know what Hana Kimi is, it's actually about a girl who admires a high jumper a lot. She feels responsible because he stopped high jumping and disguises herself as a boy and gets into an all boys high school, where he is. Of course, she helps him a lot and throughout the drama a lot of things happen. That, in the Japanese version. In the Korean one, it didn't seem as it happened a lot. They kept the skeleton but they didn't add anything to make it even more special. About the actors, Choi Minho from Shinee was Izumi, which in this version is called Kang Tae Joon. I though he couldn't pull it off because there was no feeling in his acting. I couldn't believe him as Tae Joon because he didn't show me Izumi's personality correctly. That was at first. Of course after a few episodes he started to loosen up because his acting was more relaxed and started to show little aspects of his character. Sulli was alright. Sometimes  though, it was false. I could see through her and forget about the atmosphere she had to pull off. But overall she was ok. She tried to understand her character and I'm proud of her. However, they are not the reason I didn't stop watching the series. One happy and incredibly adorable guy did it. Lee Hyun Woo was a very good Eun Gyeol. He expressed everything correctly, he was a younger and more adorable version of Toma Ikuta. It simply brightened my day each time I watched the drama. I swear when he was sad, I had the reflex to pull my hand on the screen and try to sooth him somehow. It captivated me. Another good actor who made the series better was Kwang Hee. He was also adorable and funny. I love him anyway but his character just made me love him even more.

So, there was good music in the background but still...it didn't affect me much. For example, in Secret Garden, when the songs started while things were happening, I could relate and I could feel what the song meant and the action itself. It was different here. I didn't care much and not every character have been put into the light. It was a good drama but I still prefer 2007's Hana Kimi over anything.

I Love Lee Tae Ri

I just finished watching this drama and sincerely, there are things I liked but also things that seemed a little cliché. What I'm talking about? I Love Lee Tae Ri. The plot is actually quite interesting and I recognize I didn't think it will be so addictive. In the first episode you get to know all these information about Geum Eun Dong and about his engagement to a woman who's 7 years older than he is. Now, it's weird because he is just 14 and that girl is about about 21 so it freaked me out a little. However, he realizes she likes someone else and wishes he could be older so he could protect her. At the same time, Lee Tae Ri is a woman who comes from a wealthy family but she feels lonely and she wishes for a friend. Both wishes come true when there's a lunar eclipse and so Eun Dong transforms into a young and very handsome 25 years old aka Kim Kibum. Now, there's a lot of action so you have to watch it so you can fully understand the idea but I guess they concentrated so much on their relationship and on this 'protect' mission that they ignored a little what's happening around as in the world. They could have used more the world around them like...the reality. They could have developed the idea more. The business world they created for this drama isn't very close to reality. For example, in Protect the Boss it was very real. You could've imagined the whole process taking place in the every day life.

Anyway, I liked a lot the ending. I didn't think it would have such an heart-warming ending. It also leaves the viewer to imagine what will happen next on his own. About the actors, I liked how Park Ye Jin played her role. She was cold but not enough to create a wall and make the character awkward, she was very classy and she expressed well the situations Lee Tae Ri got into. About Kim Kibum, this was the first drama I've seen him in and he didn't disappoint at all. He actually improved his character by a lot and made me cry at some parts. Well...not really cry but I did shed a tear. Anyway, the point is that the actors have been well chosen and there's no comment to that.

I can't say I admired the OST because I listened to it and it wasn't something extraordinary. Indeed, they had good music but it didn't affect me while watching the drama.

So...you go and watch I Love Lee Tae Ri :p

Shut Up Flower Boy Band

Another drama on the list is...Shut Up Flower Boy Band. I adored it from the first episode and, though I did get a little bored in the middle of it all, I still loved it. For those who haven't seen it yet, it's about a group of teenagers who have a band called Eye Candy. Their leader and vocalist is Byung Hee who is a really likeable character and unfortunately, dies. Anyway, the story follows the rest of the band and their lives. They have to go through some really hard times at their new and very high class high school (since their delinquent ridden school has been closed down), the new friendships, love, and teamwork. I love this drama mostly because the main subject in it is choosing between career and friendship and how these can also work together and get you really high in the society. However, there are shown the ups and downs of this band and how they have to, in the end, find a solution for happiness. You'll see that the end is defintely unexpected. I thought it would be kind of cliche, where everyone lives happily ever after. They do live like that but each one of them finds his own dream.

Now, concerning the actors, I knew just Lee Min Ki and L at first. I mean seriously, Min Ki is really cool and he's just so adorable in this show (and in general) and Kim Myung Soo is just...Infinite :D I love the band so yeah...I'm a fan of L's and I went immediately to check up the drama so yes, these two are the reason I started Shut Up Flower Boy Band in the first place. However, there are other actors who caught my attention more throughout the series. One of them is Sung Joon, actor I knew from Lie to Me and I was really surprised to see the change in characters. Ji Hyuk is that kind of leader who's torn between his own selfish dreams, his best friend's wishes before he died and the band's dreams. That's a lot. Anyway, his skills are good. He kind of annoyed me at some parts but it was alright overall. Regarding Lee Hyun Jae, he's very good looking:D Sorry I couldn't stop myself. He looks much more caucasian than asian. His eyes are big and he just reminded me so much of some good, old bands I used to listen when I was young. His character, Jang Do Il, is the drummer and there's some good skill there. I love how his character ends up to choose a completely different path than expected. The complete cutie of this whole drama is Kim Min Seok. He's adorable and his character's relationship with Yoo Min Kyu's reminds me so much of the whole EunHae thing. Seriouly, they are such good friends and act so close and it doesn't look gay or things like that. It's a normal brotherly friendship. Both actors have done a good job.

Now, of course the plot has been a little dragged on and I thought it got a little too much on some episodes. Some reactions have been a little overreacted by the actors and it was obvious some of them didn't feel their characters as deep as they should have. As a soon-to-be director, I would say it was a medium drama and the screenwriter should have improvised more and at a more psychological level so the plot would get more interesting but it's still worthy to watch.

I know I ignored some details in what I wrote above but where would it be the interest if I woudl have just wrote everything here? Watch it and enjoy it :)



Protect The Boss

I seriously forgot about this drama and I'm really sorry for that. How could I, I don't know. It's one of my all time favourites. I laughed so hard at each funny moment  and cried when the situation got very complicated. I first started to watch Protect the Boss because of...Jaejoong but what captivated me during the series wasn't him, instead it was Choi Kang Hee. I loved how much she expressed and how well she felt her character. Also, I always like dramas where the female characters are strong, independent and know very well what they want in life and No Eun Seol had these characteristics very definited. Anyway, the most catchy character was definitely Cha Ji Yeon. He's like the example of a cute guy who has load of money but still finds the time to be immature and fall in love with someone who can protect him better than he can by himself. The character grows up a lot throughout the drama and he grew up on me too. He's just so fun to watch and I believe he was also fun to play.

Now, regarding Jaejoong's role, he definitely acted very good and impressed me. He looked to be in his kind of role and had a blast playing Cha Mu Won. He would easily get from cranky to nice and even amusing. He knows how to ewxpress what his character feels and his face helps a lot. Now, the 'ice cream girl' played by Wang Ji Hye was very...for me, I can't say I liked her. She seemed to be that stuck up girl who gets whatever she wants no matter what and was just attracting trouble but in the end, I found out she's actually a very alright character. She also grows up throughout the drama a hell lot.

Oh, for those who don't know what I'm talking about, Protect the Boss is about this troublesome man, Cha Ji Yeon, who's supposed to inherit his father's company but is too much of a lazy ass to contribute with something, thus making his cousin, Cha Mu Won, worth that title more. No Eun Seol is one hell of a woman who needs to find a job and just happens that Cha Mu Won gets her a place in the company, because she has a strong personality (and eventually things happen). Anyway, Ji Yeon finds hismelf fall in love with his secretary (Eun Seol) and, unfortunately, Cha Mu Won does too. Thge fourth character is Seo Na Yoon who once was in a relationship with Ji Yeon and Mu Won and eventually renounced to both of them and now comes back for Ji Yeon. Is a complicated matter and you have to watch the show so you can find out what's happening there.

Atashinchi no Danshi

I actually talked about this drama in other posts but never thought to make one for it, until now. Atashinchi no Danshi (My Boys) is about family. Now, in this series, the term of homeless is used differently. As in, the people who have no house are referenced to as 'net cafe refuges'. It got me thinking when I first read this on WikiDrama but they actually use it throughout the plot. Anyway, Chisato is a 20 years old girl who got into the current situation because of her father who had to pay back a debt. One day she meets this weird looking guy, who practically does fall from the sky, Shinzo, and he offers to pay the money for her. I was perplexed, again, when he told her to marry him in return and even more surprised when, after he died, left her be the 'mother' of his six adopted children. Now, you'll find out what happens next if you watch it and you should. It's a great drama. Maki Horikita plays really well even though, sometimes, her character annoys me. She always needs some nudges to make the right decision. Osamu Mukai plays Sho Okura and I already expressed my feelings towards his character, who impresses me throughout the plot. Besides that, Osamu is a hottie and Sho matches his style, in my point of view, as an actor. Next, the older Okura is Fuu, played by Kaname Jun. He turns the tables around when he, finally, gets his head back on earth and  (even thought it was about his 'macho life') he chooses to help Chisato with her 'motherly' duties. Yusuke Yamamoto is also in Atashinchi no Danshi and he plays the model guy, who is afraid of being close to females, Masaru. I got a little freaked out when I saw how he acted but got accustomed after a few episodes. However, there are some very weird scenes that got me thinking. Anyway, he does a good job at portraying his character.

Now, I know everyone knows how much of a Seto Koji fan I am, even if I want it or not. It seems that any movie/drama I watch, he's there. I don't do it voluntarily, it's just that he acts in good movies/dramas. He portrays Satoru Okura and his character is supposed to be a magician who, because of his parents, got into a scandal and people started to question his skills. In the end, he develops a trust issue and doesn't want to get out of his room. Now, there's also the badass looking guy, the second Okura, Takeru (Okada Yoshinori), who's the goofy one (in a way). He really made the drama so much better. His character shows that not everything is what it seems, mostly when we talk about humans. The youngest Okura member is the 12 years old Akira (played by Okayama Tomoki) who is extremely intelligent but doesn't want to get involved in the so called family whatsoever.

They all have their own life stories since they have been adopted by Shinzo. However, there are some other reasons the old man got these six boys and girl into his house and forced them, in a more subtle way, to become a family. Chisato's presence proves to be needed and the boys all gravitate around her. She helps them overcome their fears and issues and she is the one to unites them. There are also some romantic things going on at some point but I'm not giving spoilers.

Go, go and watch it. You'll find it very interesting ;)

   

Koizora (Sky of Love)

Even though it's an old drama, I found it recently and watched it. I have to stay I thought the whole plot sounds a little cliché and I could see myself not liking it, however, I did. It touched me to the point of crying my eyes out in front of the screen. I didn't know Seto Koji was in it until I looked closer at Hiro and found him very familiar. Anyway, the story is common but they way they make it happen is just beautiful. The actors made it all greater and the director had a strict idea in his or her head and transcended good the feelings.

The story, which I heard and read that it is true and real, is about this high school girl, Mika, who out of the blue is kissed by one of her classmates, Hiro. He stands out in the crowd because of his hair colour and piercing (which in real world is something quite common these days, where I live) and apparently, he's already dating someone. However, he breaks up with her and starts to date Mika. The two go through some awful times but their love comes through everything and they stick together, like a pure and decent couple. Unfortunately, the end is heartbreaking. I won't say how it ends because it would be a huge spoiler but I could feel my heart break and I cried lakes because of it. It's so sad but somehow, the drama (which has just 6 episodes) is so amazing. It makes you think and realise how meaningful someone's presence can become and how much of a difference it can make. The scenes and the comparison of life and nature is also real well done and it completes everything.

You should definitely give it a shot. 

Skip Beat

Yay, I will talk about one of the dramas I have been looking forward to at the beginning of the year. It didn't disappoint and that because of the Taiwanese actress, who surprised me, Ivy Chen. I've seen the anime and the series was, well not like the anime entirely but close enough. At first, I recognize, I watched it because of Donghae and Siwon from Super Junior but after a few episodes I got swept off by Ivy's acting skills.

Everyone knows the subject. It's about Gong Xi (Ivy Chen) who gave up most of her life in order to support her childhood friend and romantic interest, Bu Po Shang ( Lee Donghae). After achieving his dream, he leaves Gong Xi behind and acts as if she's his servant. When she wakes up, finally, she seeks for revenge even if she has to enter the showbiz industry for that to happen. She gets in, eventually, and she meets Dun He Lian (Choi Siwon), a well known actor who's engrossed by her reason to become an actress. Throughout the plot Gong Xi shows her talent and slowly, forgets about revenge and concentrates on her dream. She has new possibilities and many doors open up. Eventually, Dun He Lian falls in love with her and Bu Po Shang realizes that he's not ready to give her up. That's the end of the series. It would've been nice if they would have continued. at least until 20 episodes but whatever.

The acting in it was very good. Siwon has some pretty skills there and I was impressed how stoic he could be. Of course, Ivy Chen was the big phenomenon in the drama. She portrayed Gong Xi in such a impressive way. She actually induced those feelings to me, as a viewer, and every time she would become disappointed or face hardship I really started to think about my own career, which will start after the Bacalaureat (the exam I have to take in order to finish high school). She did a great job in this drama. There are so many good points at her that it would take a lot to write. Bad points in this drama...aren't many. There was a skeleton and the director couldn't move away from it and I understood that. Possibilities were way too many but there are some rules when you make a series or movie. Anyway, I also liked Donghae's acting skills even though they weren't that obvious. I've seen him in It's Ok, Daddy's Daughter and it wasn't really something to comment about because it wasn't something to grab my attention and I was looking forward to see him in Skip Beat. He didn't disappoint but he didn't surprise either. I would like to see him in another drama, where he should have a harder role, before I can pronounce the verdict on him.

Anyway, I'm also very careful when it comes to music on dramas. This one has some good songs that give a really happy and dynamic feeling. It's not just a drama but also a comedy so it goes well together.

In the end, I liked Skip Beat and I watched it wholeheartedly and it always brought a smile on my face so I guarantee if you want to watch it or want to re-watch it then go ahead. :)

Tumbling

Tumbling is one of the dramas who actually had a big impact on me. As a director/screenwriter wannabe I found the subject very catchy. What led me to this drama is...Yusuke Yamamoto. I first saw him in Ouran High School Host Club series and I thought he portrays a really authentic Tamaki. Next, I believe was Hana Kimi, and that role suited him well enough too and of course Atashinchi no Danshi, where I got a little freaked out in the beginning but after a few episodes, you kind of get the point of the subject.Anyway, in Tumbling he plays the role of a supposedly badass and evil guy who reeks havoc wherever he goes. He does play the role well, I was impressed by his acting, but I already had a different image in my head and they confronted and made a big mess. But the plot is really interesting.

One very big positive point at this drama is that it's not about love or anything cliché. There's just this bully type of guy who has to do some extra activity so he can pass. Nothing extraordinary here but he decides to get into the boys rhythmic gymnastic club (the reason being at first a girl) and he meets people who, eventually, have a huge impact on his life (which are just three). He changes, slowly but surely, and he becomes this trustworthy and beautiful person. There are a lot of situations they have to go through like a member of the group being homosexual or the personal life each wants to keep hidden. What I'm trying to say is that the subject is friendship. Where's friendship, there's trust, there's help, there's happiness and it will always exist, no matter what, because that's what true friends are for. A friend in need is a friend indeed, after all.

Anyway, Koji's role is the leader of the boys rhythmic gymnastic club and he lives his dream because of Azuma. They go through rough times and they are made fun of but each character has his own story, his own issues and it captivates you from the start. The tumbling world is quite difficult and each time I watch these actors do those moves I am amazed.

I don't think this drama has bad points, at least  from my perception over the subject. I do believe it moves fast but if they would have made it longer I guess viewers would've gotten bored. That's actually a bad point at Hana Kimi and OHSHC, where there was enough material to prolong the series at least three more episodes.

He's/You're Beautiful

Now, now...who haven't seen this drama? Response: Everyone has seen it because it's just that awesome. He's/You're Beautiful was my first k-drama ever. I recognize that it was fantastic and I even had dreams with it! That much I watched it. I didn't know anything about the actors from it, back then, and I'm thankful for it. As a majority of people have seen, I'm a complete fan of Jang Keun Suk and him, being my first k-actor (theoretically speaking of course), it welcomed me to the good dramas. I'm also a fan of Park Shin Hye. She's a young prodigy in acting and she expresses a lot through her gestures and face.

Now, I'm sure most of you know about it but there are still newcomers and they have to be informed. He's/You're Beautiful is about this young girl, who was a former sister, but because of her twin brother (who suffered some intervention in America) she has to take his place as an idol. So, Go Mi Nyu becomes Go Mi Nam in the band A.N.Jell. The three other members are Hwan Tae Kyung (Jang Keun Suk), Kang Shin Woo (Jung Yong Hwa) and Jeremy (Lee Hongki). At first, Tae Kyung doesn't like Mi Nam and makes his (well, her) life a living hell. However, he discovers that Mi Nam is a girl and, even though he treats to tell, he doesn't and helps her keep the secret. Of course, there are other problems coming the way and eventually, everyone in the band finds out the truth...

I was amazed how, throughout the whole series, Keun Suk rarely smiles. I couldn't imagine he has such a cute smile! Anyway, the characters fit excellently with the actors. Yong Hwa is a talented young man and because I was a little sad when I saw how Shin Woo didn't get the girl (because they all start to like Mi Nyu at some point) even though he did so much for her, when I heard about Heartstrings I got really excited. Actually, these two dramas complete, somehow, each other. Wise was the one who decided to make a series with Yong Hwa and Shine Hye right after He's/You're Beautiful.

One thing I usually am very critic about is music and the OST. This drama has the best OST I've heard until now. The songs really get you into that sad or happy atmosphere and help you understand and feel more the supposed feelings the situation has.

So, in the end, whoever doesn't know about these two dramas, I advice you to watch He's/You're Beautiful and after that, Heartstrings. You'll see that it does make sense. :D

Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge

Yet another drama I found quite unique is Yamato Nadeshiko Shichi Henge translated as The Wallflower. I seriously didn't know what to expect from it because I didn't know the manga/anime either so I took it as a challenge. Surprisingly, even though the plot is not that extraordinary, it takes a alternative route. It talks about the negative part of being blessed with beauty and other things that you eventually realize throughout the drama.

For those who don't know and want to check it out, it's about this good looking guy, Takano Kyohei (Kazuya Kamenashi) who suffers from being handsome. On the other side, there's Sunako (Aya Omasa) who's that type of goth girl who lives in her own dark world. They collide when Mrs Nakahara, the landlady where Kyohei lives with other three guys, sends Sunako to get beautified and turned into a lady by the boys. If they won't succeed then that's bad. However, they do make some changes into her life and she definitely changes Kyohei's. It's quite something with this drama that I can't put in words. I got slightly annoyed on some points with Sunako's character, because she's really stubborn and she has to be always persuaded by Kyohei in order to open up a bit, but in the end is all about you, as a person. Each one of us has its own personality and own unique way of living and throughout the story, Kyohei, Yukinojo, Takenaga and Ranmaru realise that Sunako is amazing exactly the way she is and she doesn't need to be transformed into a lady. I believe that's a subject that doesn't appear much into dramas or at least, isn't obvious enough.

Overall, The Wallflower is a good manga/anime/drama that shows people some aspects about beauty.

Buzzer Beat

One quite dramatic and likeable drama is Buzzer Beat. When I started to watch it I wasn't too sure I will be able to get through it because I get annoyed easily with some stories but little by little I started to like it. I got captivated by it mostly because you don't know throughout the drama if the two principle characters will realize how much they love each other.

One good point about Buzzer Beat is that the story is about careers and love. Sometimes you have to leave pride aside and welcome the feeling of love...though personally speaking, it's very hard. Anyway, the drama is mostly about a professional basketball player, Naoki (Yamashita Tohomisa), and a violinist, Riko (Keiko Kitagawa). Throughout the story, Naoki faces some problems and tries to succeed in the world of basketball while Riko struggles in the world of music. The two meet and well...they just click, they have a lot in common and they fit perfectly.

Sincerely, I like anything with good music or even better, classical music in it. The violin Riko plays in the drama is really soothing. Of course there are other characters that complicate the plot but in the end, Naoki realises his feelings for Riko and even though he kind of annoys me because he's real SLOW. The character itself is messy and irrational sometimes...but in the end I liked it. Buzzer Beat is a good drama even if it has its own annoying parts. :)

Shaken Baby

Another drama that I really like is Shaken Baby. It's quite a silly drama about Hiroshi, played by Yusuke Yamamoto, whose girlfriend breaks up with him because he is way too normal. Also, the drama is kind of centred around a college theatre circle who like Shakespeare. That got me in the first place. I like Shakespeare too and it seems whatever English project I have, it has to have a link to Hamlet or MacBeth. Anyway, back to the story, Hiroshi gets recruited by his fellow classmate, Shun, who's a real good actor, to change his ways. It's quite funny to see Yamamoto play a guy who can say just from a glance what size a woman has. He's partially perverted in the drama but it is all so fun to watch that it doesn't matter. Another actor I like that is in this drama is Daito Shunsuke, who played Kyoya Ootori in High School Host Club action drama.

Anyway, the story is really cute, it's not something extraordinary but it just gets you to laugh wholeheartedly. I would recommend you all to watch it and see for yourself. However, it does have just one, ONE, episode on dramacrazy and I can't seem to find other episodes. It can't be just one...

Love Rain

Another drama on my 'Totally Awesome' list is Love Rain. This is a super cute drama about love. I do have to say I'm completely parallel with romantic things and especially with love but this one got me. Firstly, the action takes place in the beginning somewhere in the '70's and it describes the pure and sincere love story of  Kim Yoon Hee and Seo In Ha. After a dramatic turn of events, their love isn't fated to be and they go each on their own path. However, after a few long years, in 2012, their children meet and also fall in love with each other. It kind of gets complicated when the parents meet and want to continue their love story from where they stopped it which would mean their children's love wouldn't be possible, which also kind of annoys me. But hey, I really hope it will have a happily ever after...though it would be real cool if the end will be all wicked.

Anyway, the OST of this drama is good. It really completes the whole concept and the actors, which are Jang Keun Suk and Yoona (from SNSD), make the story even greater. they play both the past couple and the present couple and i have to say I'm a fan of Keun Suk ssi. He's a damn good actor and never ceases to amaze me with his talent. :)
